Several local organizations are partnering tomorrow (Saturday) to put on an all-day winter festival at Swan Lake State Park. According to Carroll County Conservation Education Coordinator Kristen Bieret, the Carroll County EMS Association, Carroll Recreation Center, and Carroll County Conservation had each hosted their own winter-themed events in past years. After consulting with the other organizers, Bieret says they decided to combine everything into a single extravaganza.
Later in the day, conservation staff are hosting a Dutch oven cooking seminar at 1 p.m. for $10 per person. Bieret says the fun continues with winter-themed activities throughout the day.
Starting at 5 p.m., the Carroll County EMS Association will offer a picturesque ride through the Festival of Lights in the park.
Money raised through the festival of lights benefits local first responders by assisting with licensing costs, equipment purchases, and ongoing education. Participants will close out the night with a full moon hike through Swan Lake State Park, beginning at 9 p.m. from the Swan Lake Conservation Education Center.
