“Fritz” was born on December 27, 1930 near Halbur, Iowa to Joe and Celia (Muhlbauer) Riesselman.  He grew up on the original Riesselman family farm southwest of Halbur and attended St. Augustine School.  Fritz was a baseball player in his youth and worked with his dad on the farm until his marriage to Velma Werner at St. Joseph’s church in Carroll on September 29, 1951.

Fritz and “Blondie” purchased the home place from his parents shortly after their marriage, and they lived and farmed there for over 50 years.  They raised five children and were members of St. Augustine Parish in Halbur.  For many years they enjoyed going to auctions and sales all over Iowa, buying and selling antiques and all types of other things.  In late 2004 they retired and moved to their home in Carroll on Pike Ave, where they lived until moving to Addington Place in 2021 and St. Anthony’s nursing home in 2023.  Velma passed away on July 21, 2024 after 72 years of marriage.

Fritz is survived by his children Vicki (Ken) Behrens of Templeton, Bob (Jodi) Riesselman of Longville, Minnesota, Shari (Dan) Beyer of Carroll, and Joe (Jennifer) Riesselman of Halbur, Son-in-law Rick (Jane) Anthofer of Breda, 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe & Celia Muhlbauer, his parents in-law Hugo and Katherine Werner, his daughter Lori Anthofer in 2004, his sisters Sophia (Martin) Sailer and Lila (Frank) Handlos, brother Joe, Jr. (Catherine & Helen) Riesselman, sister-in-law Addie (Bert) Buelt and brother-in-law Ray (Marie) Werner.
