Local Cities Remind Residents Of Snow Removal Ordinances Prior To Forecasted Wintry Weather This Weekend

In preparation for what is expected to be the first significant snowfall event of the season, communities in the listening area are reminding residents to reacquaint themselves with local snow removal ordinances. Regulations vary from town to town, but nearly every town requires residents to remove vehicles from on-street parking to facilitate efficient snowplow routes. Vehicles left on city streets may be impounded, with towing costs and fines potentially assessed to the registered owner. Residents are also obligated, in most cities, to clear snow and ice from sidewalks within 24 hours of the end of the precipitation event. The City of Carroll issued a warning to residents to be prepared for snow removal operations to begin as soon as Friday afternoon, and city crews have already begun treating roadways. The City of Audubon has preemptively activated its snow ordinance from 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 28, through Sunday, Nov. 30, at 5 p.m. For more information on your community’s snow removal ordinances, contact the respective city halls.
