Iowans traveling by car this Thanksgiving should expect similar costs associated with last year’s trips, according to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) and AAA-Iowa. As of Tuesday, Nov. 25, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in the state was $2.75, down one cent from last week and even with prices from a year ago. The national average for gasoline on Tuesday was $3.06, down three cents on the week. Retail diesel prices in Iowa fell two cents to $3.67 per gallon, compared to $3.31 per gallon this time last year. Iowa diesel prices are 12 cents lower than the national average of $3.79. At the Des Moines Terminal, E10 was $1.65, Unleaded 87 was $1.92, ULSD#2 was $2.51, ULSD#1 was $2.80, and E70 stood at $1.93. As for heating fuels, propane prices were up three cents to $1.55 per gallon, home heating oil was down seven cents to $3.25 per gallon, and natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site were down 10 cents to $4.45 per MMBtu.
