Sac City just got a little more colorful with over 60 flowers painted on manhole covers across the community and now, its time to vote for your favorite. Executive Director for the Sac City Chamber Crystal Hanrahan was inspired by the work of Brandon Bradshaw in Sioux City, who painted colorful flowers over manhole covers but is now facing potential criminal charges. Hanrahan contacted city officials, to obtain permission before announcing a little friendly competition. Individuals, businesses, and organizations throughout the community and even beyond signed up to put their creativity to the test. Voting ends on Nov. 28, with the picture with the most likes or reactions on the original Facebook post will be deemed the winner of $150 chamber bucks. Hanrahan has challenged other communities to participate, with Lake View and Storm Lake accepting and will be covering their streets with flowers this upcoming spring.
