City Of Coon Rapids Awarded $500,000 CBDG To Replace Water Mains On Main Street

The City of Coon Rapids has been awarded a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) through the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) to offset the cost of a portion of it’s streetscaping project. The grant will fund the replacement of over 1,100 lineal feet of water mains original to downtown buildings. The total cost for just the water improvements is $1.1 million. The application was prepared by Region XII Council of Governments. With the successful securing of the funding, as long as clearance of certain preliminary contract conditions are met, city officials plan to send the project out for bid in early January 2026, with construction taking place from the spring to the fall of 2026.
