A new horse barn will be constructed at the Greene County Fairgrounds, thanks to a grant from the Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation (GGCGC). The Greene County Fair Association was the recipient of a $500,000 grant that will help cover the cost to demolish the existing barn and the construction of a new facility located west of the horse arena. The idea to reconstruct a new building for the horses was brought to the fair board’s attention after exhibitors and the Iowa Associated Saddle Club commented that the old stalls did not have enough room for the bigger horses and often not enough stalls were available. By relocating the horse barn, the board plans to construct a new restroom facility at the previous location, which will be the only one available in the southern section of the fairgrounds. This is just one of the many renovations that are in the plans to update several other buildings around the Greene County Fairground, and the fair board wishes to thank the GGCGC for the continuous support.
