The Breda Sons of the American Legion is helping to make the holidays a little brighter for families of deployed Iowa National Guard soldiers. The group has donated $1,500 to Keepers of the Flame, a support organization assisting families of the Carroll-based Alpha Company of the 168th Infantry Regiment, which is currently serving in Iraq as part of Operation Inherent Resolve. Around 2,000 Iowa National Guard soldiers, including the 168th, began their 12-month deployment in May. This donation from the Breda Sons of the American Legion will help purchase Christmas gifts for family members of deployed soldiers who will be spending the holidays without their loved ones. A photo from the check presentation is included with this story on our website. Individuals wishing to support Keepers of the Flame and families of the 168th Infantry Regiment may send donations to Alpha Co. 1-168th, 1712 Le Clark Rd., Carroll, IA 51401.
