The Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education swore in the two new board members, heard a presentation on the English Language Learner program and more during Monday night’s board meetings. The first meeting was with the original board, and Superintendent Dr. Casey Berlau presented retiring members Duane Horsley and Kristen Lundstrom with a plaque, thanking them for their time representing the district for the past 12 and four years respectively. The second meeting was called to order with the swearing in of the two new elected individuals, Jeff Cullen and Hunter Harmening. Stacy McCaulley was nominated and sworn in as board president and Cullen as vice president. The new board has also decided to move meeting dates to the third Thursday of the month, starting at 5 p.m., with the work session following suit on the first Thursday of each month. Other key topics during the meeting included: a presentation of the English Language Learner program, the approval of the first reading for the bidding and purchasing policy, a teacher associate tuition reimbursement plan and an overview of the winter weather plan for this upcoming season. The board closed out the meeting with a business report and a closed session for a routine superintendent evaluation. Carroll Broadcasting will bring you more from the CCSD’s Board of Education meeting in upcoming newscasts.
