Nominations Now Open For Iowa’s Renewable Fuels Marketing Awards

Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig is calling on Iowans to nominate local fuel retailers for the state’s Renewable Fuels Marketing Awards, which recognize gas stations and marketers that excel in promoting ethanol and biodiesel. Naig opened the nomination window last week and highlighted the important role that retailers who sell biofuel blends in supporting both consumers and Iowa agriculture. Naig says, “American-made biofuels like ethanol and biodiesel save Iowans money at the pump, give consumers more choice, and increase the value of Iowa-grown corn and soybeans. These homegrown fuels power our state forward. They support Iowa’s ag economy, create good jobs in rural communities, and keep more dollars right here at home. Please help recognize a deserving gas station or fuel retailer by nominating them for this award.” Special consideration will go to retailers using creative strategies to market renewable fuels, such as hosting special events, launching new promotional campaigns, installing innovative signage, or significantly expanding access to higher blends. Two awards are presented each year, one for ethanol marketing and another for biodiesel. Nominations must be submitted to the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship by the close of business on Dec. 18. Links with details on how to submit are included with this story on our website. Last year’s winners were Al’s Corner Oil in Carroll County, which operates Sparky’s One Stop, and Pro Cooperative out of Pocahontas.
