Fuel prices fluctuated significantly in this week’s report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, Nov. 12, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in the state was $2.76, down five cents from last week and five cents below prices from a year ago. The national average for gasoline on Wednesday held steady at $3.08 per gallon. In Iowa retail diesel, prices jumped 17 cents to $3.76 per gallon, 45 cents above last year’s average at this point in November. This is the first time in months that Iowa prices have not been below the national diesel average, which also stood at $3.76 per gallon. As for renewables at the Des Moines Terminal, E10 was $1.82, Unleaded 87 was $2.03, ULSD #2 was $2.67, ULSD #1 was $2.95, and E70 was $1.96. Heating fuels were also mixed, as propane prices held steady at $1.53 per gallon, home heating oil was up two cents to $3.27 per gallon, and natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site rose 23 cents to $4.50 per MMBtu.
