Carroll Man Faces Felony Charge For Oct. 29 Truck Theft

A Carroll man has been arrested in connection to a pickup truck reported stolen at the end of October. According to Carroll County District Court records, 42-year-old Joshua Merle Stout was taken into custody Friday by the Carroll Police Department and charged with first-degree theft, a class C felony. Authorities say Stout allegedly entered a property in the 300 block of N. Carroll Street on the evening of Oct. 29 and drove away in the victim’s 2013 Chevrolet Silverado. Police note that security camera footage has identified Stout as the offender. Additionally, law enforcement approached Stout about the missing truck, but he has maintained his innocence. He was booked into the Carroll County Jail on Friday and released on Sunday after appearing before a magistrate. A class C felony in Iowa carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison and fines of over $10,000.
