A Buck Grove woman has been ordered to appear after allegedly writing checks from an account with insufficient funds. According to Carroll County District Court records, 46-year-old Sabrina Renee Wood wrote three checks in April and May of this year to a business in Carroll County, totaling over $1,500. Authorities say all three checks were returned and Wood was contacted by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office to settle up. Wood allegedly did not return to pay for the full amount owed and was attempted to be reached multiple times. She is facing charges of second-degree theft, a class D felony and has been ordered to appear for a preliminary hearing on Nov. 20 at the Carroll County Courthouse. A class D felony in Iowa carries a maximum sentence of up to five years in prison and $10,245 in fines.
