Fleshner Wins Election For Second Term As Carroll’s Mayor

Carroll Mayor Jerry Fleshner will serve another two-year term in office following his win in Tuesday night’s election. Fleshner defeated Dee Svensson with 78.24 percent of the vote, 1,456-401. Fleshner has run campaigns for the school board and city council, so he’s familiar with election night. He says you never know for sure how the winds are blowing in a city/school election, especially when turnout is only around 30 percent.

Fleshner could take the nearly 50-point margin as a sign that voters are happy with his leadership, but he says he hopes to meet with Tuesday’s unsuccessful city council candidates to ensure their concerns are heard at city hall, too.

The mayor’s role in Carroll city government is primarily as a spokesperson and a facilitator, and whoever holds the seat rarely has much, if any, say in how a vote may swing. Instead, Fleshner says he intends to be more vocal in recognizing volunteers, city employees, and others who are doing great things in town.

Fleshner adds that the incoming and outgoing council will soon begin their preparations for the Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 budget, and he encourages people to bring their questions or concerns to city hall well in advance. Fleshner says he’s grateful for the opportunity to continue serving Carroll and its residents.

Results of the many different elections on Tuesday night are included below.
