Hospitals across Iowa generated nearly $23 billion for the state’s economy in 2024, and Audubon County Memorial Hospital (ACMH) contributed just over $30 million of that total, according to the Iowa Hospital Association (IHA). In a recent report, data collected by IHA show that ACMH accounted for approximately five percent of the county’s gross domestic product, with expenditures totaling $17.3 million. The hospital is a large employer in Audubon County, providing 99 jobs, which make up 5.3 percent of the county’s workforce, paying $9 million in wages. ACMH also contributed $121.8 thousand in community benefits, which accounted for charity care and bad debts for services the hospital provided but was not paid for due to the patient’s inability to afford them. Throughout 2024, the hospital provided 75 encounters with individuals through many community service programs. A link to view the full IHA’s economic impact of ACMH is included below. Carroll Broadcasting will bring you more from other hospitals in the listening area in upcoming newscasts.
