A report from the Iowa Hospital Association (IHA) showed that Loring Hospital in Sac City contributed nearly $30 million to Sac County’s economy in 2024. The $29.7 million in total expenditures accounted for just over five percent of the county’s gross domestic product, with $12.1 million of that staying locally as wages for the 227 employees. Loring Hospital employs 7.5 percent of the workforce in Sac County, accounting for 8.1 percent of wages. Last year, just over $328,000 was delivered to residents through community benefits, such as charity care and bad-debt for individuals who needed health care but could not afford it.
