Schaller Woman Facing Jury Trial For Attempted Murder Charges After Allegedly Cutting Victim’s Throat

A Schaller woman has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder charges after allegedly cutting the throat of an individual back in September. According to Sac County District Court records, authorities say on Sept. 15 at 3 a.m. in Schaller, 35-year-old Jennifer Lynn Rathe used a knife to horizontally cut the throat of a victim, then attempted to use the same knife to stab the victim’s eye. Rathe was taken into custody and is being held on a $25,000 bond. She has pled not guilty to two felony charges of attempted murder, a class B felony, and willful injury, causing serious injury, a class C felony. A jury trial has been scheduled for Dec. 9 at the Sac County Courthouse. If convicted, Rathe can face a maximum sentence of up to 35 years in prison and $13,660 in fines.
