The City of Manning was among 16 communities selected to receive a share of nearly $500,000 in grant funding from the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA). The funding is awarded through the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 Empower Rural Iowa program, and in Manning’s case, they will receive a $10,000 Building Ownership and Organization by Strengthening Teams (BOOST) grant, which will be used to investigate potential uses for the former Accura HealthCare facility. Currently, the building is the only vacant structure in Manning’s downtown. The IEDA announced $490,000 in grants yesterday (Monday), and a full list of all the recipients is included below. Empower Rural Iowa grants are available for communities with fewer than 20,000 residents to support housing initiatives, child care planning, economic development, and other uniquely rural challenges.
