Travelers through Lake View will need to slow it down a bit as the city council approved an ordinance change to decrease the speed limit on Highway 175 from 55 to 50. Interim City Administrator John Gibson says this request comes from the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) to lower the speed limit from the city limits to the east on Quincy Avenue to High Street, approximately one-mile-long stretch. The change is being proposed as the construction of Casey’s is nearing completion, which is expected to be increasing the amount of traffic slowing down to turn. The council had no comments during the public hearing and the first reading of the ordinance was unanimously approved. Council member Jim Jensen motioned to waive the second and third reading, officially adopting the ordinance which also approved unanimously by the council.
