CCSD Board Of Education Approves Stone Printing Furniture Quote $19,000 Less Then Originally Bid Provided

The Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education approved of a quote from Stone Printing to supply furniture for the new transportation facility. During the Sept. 15 meeting, board members tabled the quote from Premier F+E for nearly $50,000 for various chairs, desks, and other furniture for the office portion of the facility, as board members wanted to have more bids to compare competitive pricing. Board member Jim Friel says the decision to table was the right move as it saved tax payers $19,000. Principal Architect for DLR Group Eric Beron says as the district’s professional for the project, he wants to make sure the board got the full picture.

Beron says multiple quotes are often received to compare similar jobs or products, which he says is not quite the case for this instance.

The key differences that Beron was pointing out included a reception chair, with four-way adjustable seat arms, Grade 4 Fabric on a guest chair and longer warranties on some of the furniture from Premier F+E, while Stone Printing was presenting two-way adjustable seat arms and Grade 2 fabric. Board member Duane Horsley says he appreciates the break down and the comparing of the products, but says he feels comfortable with the quote and furniture being supplied from Stone Printing.

The board unanimously approved of Stone Printing Office Supplies quote for $30,492.16, for 35 chairs, four desks, four tables, a master key set and a cart to completely furniture the transportation facility.
