A welcoming sight at the pumps as gas prices fell again in this week’s fuel report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) and AAA Iowa. As of Wednesday, Oct. 15, the average price for a gallon of unleaded gasoline fell eight cents, averaging $2.74 across the state. Gas prices now stand 25 cents lower than what was reported back in Oct. of 2024. Iowa remains below the national average of $3.07, which also dropped five cents on the week. Retail diesel prices fell two cents, averaging $3.44 across Iowa, but is up three cents from prices reported last year. Iowa prices are 22 cents lower than the national average for diesel of $3.66 per gallon. Renewables at the Des Moines Terminal reported: E10 at $1.79, Unleaded 87 at $1.98, ULSD#2 was $2.21, ULSD#1 at $2.64 and $1.91 per gallon for E-70. As for heating fuels, propane prices averaged $1.52 and home heating oil priced at $3.00 per gallon in Iowa. Natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site were down 33 cents to $2.99 per MMbtu.
