Current Carroll Community School District (CCSD) Board of Education President, Kristen Lundstrom is seeking to hold her seat for another term this upcoming November election. Lundstrom was elected for her first term in 2021, being the top vote-getter with 1,532 ballots cast in her favor. Lundstrom moved here to Carroll back in 2014 when her husband accepted a position at Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) and notes how welcoming Carroll was to them and their two boys, Tyson and Charlie.
She currently works for Caring Hearts for West Central Iowa and is also the lead organizer for the CCSD Summer Fun Camp for the past 11 years. Lundstrom says she feels like her work is not complete, and decided to run for a second term now that she has more experience under her belt as she wishes to continue to pay it back by helping the community that has been so supportive to them.
Lundstrom says when she first campaigned to serve on the board, her focus was on quality education with parental input, retention of teachers and supports and funding and that has not changed.
Just as before, Lundstrom wants Carroll voters to know that she is dedicated, informed, and invested to do what is in the best interest of the district.
Lundstrom is the only incumbent seeking re-election, as Duane Horsley has decided to not to run again after first being elected in 2013. Lundstrom faces four other candidates for the two open seats: Jeff Cullen, Angela Owen, Hunter Harmening, and Dr. Charles Svensson.
