KNOW YOUR BALLOT: Jeff Cayler Seeks Carroll At-Large Position

One of Carroll’s two at-large city council seats is on the ballot this November and is one of the three contested races for voters interested in city government to consider. Jeff Cayler is one of those candidates. While this is his first time formally running for office, he has been a regular at city council meetings for nearly four decades.

For nearly 30 years, Cayler has also served as a consultant to law enforcement agencies, fire departments, and cities seeking to hire individuals for leadership roles. Cayler says this has given him opportunities over the years to look under the hood at many organizations, which cemented his belief that Carroll is one of the best-run city governments in Iowa.

Taxes and spending are a top concern for many voters heading to the polls for this election, and Cayler understands that sentiment, as nobody enjoys paying taxes. However, he says Carroll is a prime example of good stewardship, as he experienced firsthand.

When it comes time to cast a ballot, Cayler asks voters to consider his knowledge of city operations as an employee, a department head, and as interim city manager, and what those perspectives can bring to the council dais.

John Lawson is the other candidate to have filed for the open Carroll City Council at-large seat. Carroll Broadcasting will have more from him and other local candidates in upcoming newscasts.
