The Coon Rapids Fire Department extends an invite to residents to visit the station, meet department members and enjoy a meal that will be used to raise funding to continue to support the organization. On Thursday, Oct. 9 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the Coon Rapids Fire Station will open the doors to the public, serving a free-will donation supper of hot dogs, hamburgers, beans, chips, cookies, and a beverage, with all proceeds going to assist the department purchase new bunker gear, boots, and other personal protective equipment (PPE) for the 26-member team. The department is also looking to purchase new trucks to replace some of the older vehicles. The open house is held during National Fire Prevention Week which is recognized Oct. 5 through the 11th this year, giving community members the opportunity to learn more about the department, ways they are continuing to improve to serve the community better, as well as showing support to help the team protect their designated fire district. Again, the Coon Rapids Fire Department invites all to a Fire Department Appreciation Dinner on Thursday, Oct. 9 starting at 5:30 p.m. at the fire station.
