Iowa Lt. Gov. Chris Cournoyer visited Carroll last week to learn more about the community’s efforts to spur economic growth and community development efforts during a tour hosted by the Carroll County Growth Partnership (CCGP). Cournoyer met with business leaders and local officials on Wednesday, Oct. 1, to discuss workforce development, investment opportunities, and strategies to strengthen rural communities. Her first stop was at St. Anthony Regional Hospital, where President and CEO Allen Anderson led the lieutenant governor on a tour of one of Carroll County’s largest employers and highlighted some of the local hospital’s priorities, including access to mental health treatment in rural Iowa, STEM-related healthcare careers, and maintaining local access for cancer patients. Cournoyer also visited Core-Mark. Division President Ryan Owen showcased the company’s regional warehouse operations. Next, she visited I Saw the Sign, a creative business founded by Chelsea Bissen and Denae Rosdail. Cournoyer’s visit to Carroll ended with a luncheon and roundtable discussion with city and county leaders. CCGP Executive Director Kimberly Tiefenthaler says, “It is an honor to have Lt. Gov. Cournoyer here in Carroll. Her support and recognition of our efforts reinforce the momentum we are building together as a community and county.”
