Most Of The State Is In Elevated Fire Risk Heading Into The Weekend

With the dry conditions and wind forecasted for tomorrow (Saturday), farmers are asked to use an abundance of caution as fire danger levels are elevated. The National Weather Service out of Des Moines released the Cropland Fire Danger Index earlier today (Friday), with most of the listening area in a very high level, with most of Sac and northern parts of Calhoun County in an extreme level. Burning is asked to be avoided, until weather conditions improve, to not carelessly discard cigarettes and to use caution with farm and outdoor equipment. The first rain chances for the area will on Sunday evening and will continue into Monday night.
