FEMA Awards Lidderdale FD Nearly $81,000 Assistance To Firefighters Grant

The Lidderdale Fire Department has been selected for a nearly $81,000 grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to upgrade its safety gear. The department received $80,952 through FEMA’s 2025 Assistance to Firefighters Grant program, and the funds will be used to purchase 10 sets of breathing gear, complete with air tanks, facemasks, harnesses, and personal alert safety system alarms. The new equipment will improve firefighter safety during emergencies by replacing the department’s older units. The grant application was managed by the Region XII Council of Governments. Since the Assistance to Firefighters Grant was established in 2001, approximately $8.7 billion has been awarded to fire departments throughout the nation to purchase equipment, gear, vehicles, training, and other resources.
