The Audubon Community School District celebrates continued progress shown by both school buildings in this year’s performance report from the Iowa Department of Education. For the second year in a row, the Audubon Middle/High School earned a high performing rating, with the elementary school moving up to a commendable designation with no additional resources or supervision needed by state officials. On statewide assessments, 81.31 percent of Audubon students were proficient in science, nearly 15 percentage points above the state average of 67.14 percent. The Wheelers followed in line of proficiency with mathematics and English Language Arts, scoring at 82.3 percent and 86.65 percent respectively. Compared to other schools in Iowa, Audubon CSD was 11.37 percentage points higher in mathematics and 13.09 percentage above the average in English language arts proficiency rates. Graduation rates also excelled above the average reported for Iowa at 96.77 percent, over by 8.5 percent for the four-year graduation rate and 100 percent, 10.12 percentage points above for the state’s five-year graduation rate. Chronic absenteeism was reported 8.19 percent below Iowa’s rate of 15.81 percent at 7.62 percent. The district also exceeded the state average for post-secondary readiness with 76.67 percent of students participating in a work-based learning program, 31.67 percentage points above average and 96.3 percentage for students taking college credit courses, 26.27 percent points above other districts in the state.
