Gasoline prices in the state fell slightly in this week’s report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, Sept. 24, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline was $2.91, down six cents from last week and 13 cents from prices in 2024. Iowa prices remain 25 cents below the $3.16 national average, which increase four cents on the week. Retail diesel prices in the state fell one cent to $3.50 per gallon, up 16 cents from prices a year ago but still 19 cents lower than the national average of $3.69. Current prices at the Des Moines Terminal are $1.86 for E-10, $2.09 for Unleaded 87, $2.36 for ULSD #2, $2.72 for ULSD #1, and $1.99 per gallon for E-70. Natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site were up 5 cents at $3.16 per MMbtu. Heating oil and propane prices are expected to be released within the next couple weeks.
