The Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) announced Monday that the City of Manning has been awarded $1.75 million in federal funding for its proposed $2.75 million Park Avenue project. The money, sourced through the 2025 Comprehensive Neighborhood Revitalization Grant via the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program, will facilitate the rehabilitation of the areas surrounding Manning City Park. Plans include new and updated recreational facilities, such as pickleball, tennis, and basketball courts, updated stormwater systems, additional parking, improved pedestrian walkways, and housing rehabilitation. IEDA Director Debi Durham says, “Strong neighborhoods are the heartbeat of a thriving community. These investments empower local leaders to reimagine aging districts, attract new families and businesses, and create vibrant places for long-term growth and opportunity.” Manning’s $1.75 million award was part of $5.25 million announced on Monday. Other communities selected to receive funding are Eagle Grove in Wright County and Murray in Clarke County. Carroll Broadcasting will bring you more from Manning City Administrator Dawn Meyer about its Comprehensive Neighborhood Revitalization Grant in upcoming newscasts.
