Manning Regional Healthcare Center will host a free “Welcome to Medicare” seminar on Tuesday, Sept. 30, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event is designed for those approaching Medicare eligibility or helping a loved one navigate the system. The program, offered in partnership with the State of Iowa’s Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP), will cover Medicare Parts A and B benefits, prescription drug coverage, more commonly known as Medicare Part D, Medicare Advantage Plans, supplemental insurance, and how to identify Medicare fraud and errors. Attendees are asked to register by calling 712-655-2072. Participants should enter through MRHC’s Emergency entrance and follow posted signs. MRHC SHIIP Counselor Nancy Danner says, “The best time to start getting information is before you actually need it, so I advise thinking about it at least 6–12 months before someone turns 65 years old.” If somebody is unable to attend next week’s program, a second seminar will be held on Nov. 25. Danner also offers free one-on-one counseling every Wednesday at MRHC.
