Gov. Reynolds Issues 2025 Harvest Proclamation

Another indicator that the 2025 harvest season is on the cusp of beginning in earnest is the announcement of Iowa’s harvest proclamation, which came on Thursday. Gov. Kim Reynolds signed a proclamation that eases weight restrictions on the transportation of agricultural products, allowing farmers and haulers to transport heavier loads without permits. The order goes into effect immediately and expires Oct. 18. Traditionally, the order is extended on a monthly basis until harvest-related work is finished. The proclamation applies to loads carrying corn, soybeans, hay, straw, silage, stover, fertilizer, and manure. It allows loads up to 90,000 pounds gross weight on Iowa highways without a permit, as long as they do not exceed the non-primary highway maximum gross weight table by more than 12.5 percent and the per-axle limit of 20,000 pounds. The order does not include traffic using the interstate system. The Sept. 18 harvest proclamation in its entirety can be found included below.
