Back by popular demand, the Carroll County Historical Society is again offering a tour of the county’s ghost towns. Darlene Rueter, a Carroll County Historical Society board member, says they aren’t looking for ghouls on this tour; rather, they’ll dive into the past.
The tour is scheduled for Sunday, September 28, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and will begin at the Carroll County Museum. Historical Society President Barbara Hackfort says they have plenty of places to visit in that four-hour span.
Society Vice President Gayle Dean says there are multiple ways to reserve a seat.
Hackfort adds that they had initially planned for the ghost town tours to be a once-and-done event, but they have sold out every year since they began. Again, tickets are now available for $20 each at various locations, including the Carroll Chamber of Commerce and the Carroll County Museum, or by phone at 712-830-8980. The tour is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 28, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., beginning at the museum.
