Fuel price movements were mixed in this week’s report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) and AAA-Iowa. As of Wednesday, Sept. 17, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in the state was $2.97, three cents higher than last week and even with prices from a year ago. The national average on Wednesday climbed one cent to $3.20 per gallon. As for Iowa retail diesel, the average price decreased by three cents to $3.51 per gallon, compared to $3.34 per gallon at the same point in 2024. The national average remains 20 cents higher than local prices at $3.71 per gallon. As for renewables at the Des Moines Terminal, E10 was priced at $2.00, Unleaded 87 at $2.26, ULSD #2 at $2.47, ULSD #1 at $2.81, and E70 at $2.11. Natural gas prices at the Henry Hub reporting site were up seven cents to $3.11 per MMBtu.
