Audubon City Council Approves Ordinances For New Traffic Signs At Last City Council Meeting

Audubon-Bull-Use-This-One

The Audubon City Council approved resolutions of new traffic signage at two busy intersections in town at the previous city council meeting. Discussion was had among council members for additional safety procedures for Audubon Elementary students as traffic tends to get congested, leading to potentially unsafe situations. During the Sept. 10 meeting, council members unanimously approved the resolution to create a four-way stop at South Street and Leroy Street, a block east of the elementary school. In addition to the four-way stop, a pedestrian stop will be added at Leroy Street and East Division Street just to the south to accommodate for young students trying to cross the busy street. An ordinance amendment regarding those two changes will be drafted and brought to the next city council meeting to go through three readings, with the potential council waives the second and third and adopting the amended ordinance. The Audubon City Council also approved of the first reading for an ordinance to add a yield sign when traveling west on Brayton Street at the intersection of Third Avenue. The reasoning behind the change was to force drivers to start slowing down and be prepared for in-town traffic. Council also voted to waive the second and third readings, officially adopting the ordinance. Off-street parking was also discussed during the meeting but was tabled until further information could be gathered.
