The local group “Concerned Iowans” will be postponing the peaceful protest scheduled in Carroll this weekend out of respect for all those harmed by political violence. In a statement released by members of the group, they say “This decision reflects our resolve to maintain decency, civility, and respect for the democratic process while standing firm in our values and beliefs. We remain committed to raising our voices through nonviolent action, and we will gather again soon to continue our work for a stronger, more just democracy. Concerned Iowans of Carroll, Iowa, stand with all people who reject political violence. In light of recent events, we are reaffirming our commitment to peaceful demonstrations of our democratic values. Political violence has no place in our country, and we categorically condemn it.” The new date has not yet been announced.
