Several Local Farms And Businesses Will Be Featured During Upcoming Choose Iowa Farm Open House and Iowa Barn Foundation Barn Tour

Several local farms will be showcased during this year’s Choose Iowa Farm Open House and the Iowa Barn Foundation’s Fall All-State Barn Tour, happening this weekend. The events coincide giving visitors an opportunity to discover agricultural heritage through tours, and promoting Iowa products while supporting local farms and businesses. A record 103 stops will be featured during the self-guided 2025 Barn Tour, with four stops in the listening area. The Clancy Barn in Pomeroy, the Ellis Barn (Big Red Barn) in Lytton and the Hinderaker Barn outside of Guthrie Center have been added as a tour stop, for being awarded a restoration grant through the Iowa Barn Foundation which covers up to 50 percent of the project cost of restoring original historic barn buildings. The Souder Farms Barn and Corn Crib near Lytton is a new stop for this year, being awarded the preservation award for a building remaining in top condition by using modern materials. Richard’s Barn north of Jamaica in Greene County was granted the Award of Distinction, for being restored by owners with original construction materials. Richard’s Barn is closed during the 2025 Barn Tour due to damage received from storms over the summer. Three Choose Iowa members from the listening area will also be welcoming guest during the first Choose Iowa Farm Open House event this weekend. Deal’s Orchard and Krieger’s Greenehouses and Greene Goods Market, both in Jefferson, and Early Morning Harvest southeast of Panora will be promoting local products and invite all to come shop, supporting small businesses. Deals and coupons to many participating businesses can be found on the Choose Iowa Passport digital platform. That link, and additional details, including location, hours of operation and history on each agriculture-themed site can be found included below.
