Gov. Reynolds Orders Flags To Half-Staff Immediately In Memory Of Charlie Kirk And Memorial Of 9/11 Attacks

Governor Kim Reynolds orders flags to be lowered to half-staff immediately in memory of Charlie Kirk and in remembrance of the 24th memorial of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The flags will be lowered until sunset Sunday, Sept. 14, for Kirk who was shot and killed while attending an event at Utah Valley University and also in memory of all who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001 when members of al Qaeda hijacked four commercial airplanes, crashing them into the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and one crashing into a field near Shanksville, Penn. In regards to 9/11, Reynolds says “Twenty-four years ago, nearly 3,000 innocent Americans and brave first responders lost their lives to the unspeakably evil terrorist attacks against our great nation on September 11. On Patriots Day, we honor them and their families and reaffirm our pledge that we will never forget.” Flags will be lowered to half-staff on the State Capitol Building, the flag displays in the Capitol Complex, and on all public buildings, grounds, and facilities throughout the state. Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, counties and other government subdivisions are encouraged to fly the flag at half-staff for the same length of time as a sign of respect. The order in memory of Kirk is in conjunction with President Trump’s proclamation for the United States’ flag to be lowered.
