The Coon Rapids Fire Department responds to a farm northeast of town for a piece of equipment on fire this Wednesday morning. According to Fire Chief Jeffrey Kracht, crews were dispatched to a farming operation near the intersection of Brentwood Avenue and 320th Street at approximately 11:15 a.m. to a manure spreader on fire from a mechanical issue. Kracht says the owner of the spreader ran the equipment yesterday (Tuesday) and performed some maintenance on it before parking it for the night. When arriving on scene, the department quickly extinguished the blaze, remaining at the location for approximately half an hour.
