A group of local women are gathering together to host a conference to help others along their journey of building a stronger connection to their faith. On Saturday, Sept. 20, Abandon All To Christ The King women’s conference will feature times of worship, speakers, and fellowship among other followers of Christ. Organizing Committee Member and speaker for the event, Reverend Christy Weaver from Des Moines says the main purpose of this conference is to uplift women while encouraging them to follow in their faith.
There are 87 women that are currently registered to attend the conference which will be held at the Carroll REC Center Auditorium. Another member of the organizing committee, Virginia Hillmer of Lytton says the conference will not be focusing on the teachings of one domination over the others, so she hopes women from all religious backgrounds will be inspired to join.
Registration is opened online until the day of the event and the link has been included below. Guest speaker and organizing member Tessie McKinney says each ticket is around $18, with the option to add on a boxed lunch for $13. McKinney says there are opportunities for individuals who need financial assistance if they would like to attend.
Scholarship and St. John II Parish registration does not include the boxed lunch. Those wanting more information on either of those are encouraged to reach out to St. John Parish or the Abandon All To Christ The King Conference Facebook page. McKinney says this event is close to her heart and she could not have made this at all possible without the help of the vision committee.
Again, the Abandon All To Christ The King Women’s Conference will be on Saturday Sept. 20 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Individuals interested in attending are encouraged to visit the group’s Facebook page for more details.
