U.S Senator Chuck Grassley Comments On Upcoming Deadline For Fiscal Year 2025

U.S Senator Chuck Grassley says the clock is ticking for the U.S Government to finalize a budget with the ending of Fiscal Year (FY) 2025 at the end of the month. To date, a total of $5.98 trillion was spent federally, which is an increase of seven present, or $374 billion from FY24 spending, according to fiscaldata.treasury.gov. Grassley says while the next budget does not go into effect for another three weeks, he is already certain that it will not be finalized.

A clean continuing resolution means the government would use the outline of the previous budget, spending what was already agreed upon until new appropriation bills are established. Grassley says he hears talk of the government shutting down because of the budget not being passed, but he says that will not accomplish anything.

Grassley says it’s Congress’ job to create and follow the approved budget to ensure the American people are taken care of and federally funded programs remain operational.
