A Scranton woman found guilty earlier this year for arson and fraudulent practice is now facing an additional charge of allegedly tampering with a juror. According to Greene County District Court records, 28-year-old Conner Laine Groves was found guilty in a jury trial of two class C felonies for second degree arson and first-degree fraudulent practice, two class D felonies for conspiracy to commit arson and insurance fraud, and a serious misdemeanor for possession of marijuana after she intentionally planned and lit her house in Churdan on fire, and included items that were not damaged in her insurance claim. Prior to the trial, Groves allegedly approached an individual at a local bar on April 6, prior to her trial date, who she identified to be one of the jurors for her case and attempted to persuade him to give her a not guilty verdict. Groves has plead not guilty and will face another jury trial on Sept. 30 at the Greene County Courthouse for an additional class C felony, tampering with a juror. If convicted, Groves can face an additional ten years in prison and $13,660 in fines on the potential maximum 30-year sentence from the other charges.
