The Lake City Betterment Association is gearing up for its annual autumn celebration later this month, and the deadline to register for some of the planned events is approaching this weekend. The Lake City Fall Fest and Chili Cookoff is slated for Sunday, Sept. 14, in downtown. Association Secretary Kat Morris reminds parents to sign their kids up for the Fall Fest Pageant before the weekend is over.
A big part of the Fall Fest each year is the hotly contested chili cookoff. Morris says they’ve made some changes this year to ensure there are no barriers for teams that want to enter.
A central theme for Lake City’s Fall Fest is family-friendly fun, and Morris says that is the case again for 2025’s schedule. More than 30 vendors are expected to have stands set up around the square, and Morris says the kids will have all kinds of activities to participate in.
Participants can also join in the scarecrow decorating contest, and stakes can be claimed on the south side of the square beginning Monday, Sept. 8. While all the activities, chili-tasting, and more are going on, DJ Erkenbrack will be providing live music on the square from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Again, Fall Fest is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14, in downtown Lake City.
