Governor Kim Reynolds orders all flags to be lowered to half-staff in remembrance of the victims for the church-school shooting in Minneapolis. Immediately until sunset on Aug. 31, all flags will be lowered as the nation mourns the two children killed and 17 injured during a shooting while attending Mass at the Annunciation Catholic Church celebrating their first week of the school year. Reynolds says “What occurred this morning at Annunciation Catholic Church and School in Minneapolis is unspeakably senseless violence against innocent and defenseless children. Such evil acts have no place in our great nation. Kevin and I are both praying for the students, school staff, and law enforcement officers involved. Our thoughts are with the families whose loved ones were taken far too soon.” Flags will be at half-staff on the State Capitol Building, the flag displays at the Capitol Complex and on all public buildings, grounds, and facilities throughout the state. Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, and other government subdivisions are encouraged to fly the flag at half staff for the same length of time as a sign on respect. Reynold’s order is issued in conjunction with President Trump’s proclamation to lower the United States flag for the same amount of time.
