A Fort Dodge man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for conspiring to distribute methamphetamine in the community and surrounding areas. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa, 41-year-old Christopher Lee Caquelin pled guilty earlier this year to one count of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance and one count of distribution of a controlled substance and was sentenced earlier this week. Authorities say Caquelin participated in a Fort Dodge-based drug ring that distributed more than 50 grams of pure methamphetamine between January 2023 and October 2024. A U.S. district court judge handed down the sentence in Sioux City, ordering Caquelin to serve 120 months in prison followed by five years of supervised release. There is no parole in the federal system. Caquelin remains in the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service until his transfer to a federal prison. The investigation was a joint effort between the Webster County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Dodge Police Department, and Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement.
