Lytton Teen Brings Home People’s Choice Award From Governor’s Charity Steer Show

A Lytton teen brought home the People’s Choice Award from the 2025 Iowa Governor’s Charity Steer Show at the Iowa State Fair earlier this month. The show has been hosted for the past 43 years and was created to support non-profit organizations that benefit Iowans. This year’s show raised $569,000 for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Iowa, which provides food and shelter for families whose children need to travel for medical care. The event is hosted by the Office of the Governor of Iowa, the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association, and the Iowa Beef Industry Council. Tucker Freimuth of Lytton showed a steer named “Burt Reynolds” alongside Iowa Corn Promotion Board President Ralph Lents and brought home the People’s Choice Award. Other locals participating in the charity show included Kennedy Eischeid of Manning, who showed “Mickey” alongside Lt. Gov. Chris Cournoyer. Since 1983, the Iowa Governor’s Charity Steer Show has raised nearly $6 million for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Iowa.
