The Carroll County Courthouse could soon see signage updates on its main floor to better assist residents connect with the services they need. The Carroll County Board of Supervisors, alongside several other elected officials, discussed ideas on how to address the perceived issue during Monday’s meeting. Board Chair Scott Johnson says offices that had been in the same location for almost 50 years moved after the renovations, and some people are having a tough time orienting themselves when they enter the courthouse.
Carroll County Treasurer Lisa Wagner says the issue isn’t always about knowing an office’s locations; rather, it is knowing what services are offered through each office.
County Auditor Kourtney Payer adds that there is space on the non-service windows in her office that people often confuse with the service desk, and it would be a good place to put information about which offices handle which tasks.
The supervisors floated several ideas, ranging from directional signage to adding updated logos to make each office more distinct, but they did not take formal action at Monday’s meeting. The board directed the elected officials and department heads who have offices on the first floor to meet and discuss what they would like to see for way-finding solutions and bring their recommendations back to the board for consideration.
