The City of Westside announced this (Tuesday) morning that a boil order has been issued for the community following a water main break. According to city officials, a leak was discovered in the main located on the south shoulder of U.S. Highway 30 at the Main Street intersection, accompanied by a loss of pressure in the system. Due to the break site, traffic on U.S. Highway 30 is down to a single lane while repairs are underway. Motorists are asked to use increased caution when traveling through the community on the highway. The boil order will remain in effect until repairs are completed and laboratory results confirm the water is clear of contamination. The boil advisory applies to all water intended for consumption, including water used for making ice, brushing teeth, and cooking. For general purposes, such as laundry, it is still safe. Advisories are typically in place for around 48 hours. City officials thank customers for their patience and understanding while the order is active.
