Attempted murder charges have been dismissed for Jefferson teen accused of shooting an individual in the head in Lake View back in May. According to Sac County District Court records, 16-year-old Keegan Dean Kennedy got into a verbal altercation with another passenger, 30-year-old Dalton Goodman. His attorney filed a motion in June for the attempted murder charge to be dismissed due to not enough significant evidence to prove the charge without a reasonable doubt. Instead, Kennedy is facing a class C felony, willful injury-causing serious injury for allegedly hitting Goodman in the face multiple times with the hand-gun and then shooting him. Kennedy has plead not guilty to the charge and will face a jury trial on Sept. 30 at the Sac County Courthouse. If convicted, he could face a maximum sentence of up to ten years in prison, and $13,660 in fines. Kennedy has been released from custody and is in the care of his parents under house arrest and GPS monitoring.
