Nathan Sage, Democrat candidate pursuing election for U.S. Senate, recently met with constituents in Carroll County at the Glidden Farmer’s Market on Tuesday. Sage is currently trying to grab the election seat held by Republican Senator Joni Ernst, who hasn’t officially announced she is planning to run for re-election but has thrown some hints of it coming. Sage is currently touring all 99 counties in Iowa, to which he says is all about being able to listen to issues affecting residents’ communities first hand.
Sage says he is hearing a common theme from Iowa residents when making these visits.
Growing up in a trailer park in Mason City, Sage said through his time in the Marines and Army and serving as the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, he is ready to bring his resilience and dedication to Washington D.C.
Sage has more visits planned in the listening area for his 99 County Tour, including Sac City Aug. 24 at 6 p.m., Guthrie County Fair on Aug. 28 at 2:30 p.m. and in Rockwell City on Oct. 11 at 12:30 p.m. A link to the remaining scheduled events can be found included below. There are currently four other Democrat candidates running for the position: Josh Turek of Council Bluffs, Sen. Zach Wahls of Coralville, Rep. J.D. Scholten of Sioux City, and Jackie Norris of Des Moines. The Republican candidates include former Sen. Jim Carlin of Sioux City and Joshua Smith from Indianola.
